Victoria University

Victoria University is an Australian public university based in Melbourne, Victoria. It is a western institution and one among Australia's 39 public universities. The university first opened its doors in 1916 and was granted university status in 1991. Over 40,000 students attend the university, with around 14,000 overseas students. It has a large number of undergraduate, graduate, vocational, and TAFE programmes to choose from. Arts and Humanities, Education, Computers and IT, Engineering and Science, Health and Biomedicine, Law and Justice, and other academic areas are among Victoria University's most popular programmes.

Victoria University is placed among the top 2% of universities globally, according to the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2021. In the 2020 Times Higher Education Young University Rankings, the university was ranked 11th out of 22 Australian institutions. Victoria University moved up five bands in the QS World University Rankings from #601-650 in 2020 to #551-560 in 2021, putting it in the top half of all ranked universities.

Courses

There are numerous undergraduate, postgraduate, TAFE, and vocational courses offered by the university. In addition to business courses, arts courses, education courses, computer & information technology courses, engineering courses & science courses are the most popular courses. A unique option offered by the University is the VU block model, which allows students to choose only one unit or subject at a time over a period of four weeks. Moreover, there are various Pathways at the University that students can choose from. There are also short courses for enhancing skills and cross-institutional study opportunities, in which eligible students may study a unit at a different institution.

Accommodation

In addition to on-campus housing at Victoria University, the university also offers off-campus housing. Students living on campus will have access to the University's Unilodge for VU student accommodation, an excellent choice for quality living. A total of 500 beds are available in the Unilodge, which offers studio apartments, two-bedroom apartments, and six-bedroom apartments. In the building you will find fully furnished modern apartments with a bathroom, kitchen, fan, heater, internet facilities, 24/7 secure building entry, study desk, chair, pinboard, shelves, TV, lounge, TV room, laundry room, outdoor recreation space, BBQ, half basketball court, rooftop terrace, onsite cafe, pool table, games room, etc. International and domestic students at the University are guaranteed housing. The student must submit an application for accommodation at the University-approved Unilodge. In Melbourne, there are several options for off-campus housing as well.

Scholarships

Scholarships worth millions of dollars are available to students at all levels at the University. International students can apply for a number of scholarships at Victoria University. The majority of international student scholarships are externally funded or university-funded, and are intended to provide financial aid to international students. Scholarships meant for international students can be obtained by submitting an online application through the University's webpage, which is then assessed on the basis of the student's academic performance and financial status. Some of these scholarships are listed below:

a. VU International Excellence Scholarship
Provides awards of 750 AUD per semester and 3,000 AUD towards tuition fees. To be eligible, a student must be enrolled full-time, receive advanced standing and credit transfer into the VU, and complete 48 credit points in each semester.

b. VU International VCE Scholarship
A student may receive tuition assistance of up to 3,000 AUD for the first two study periods and up to 12,000 AUD towards the total tuition fees if they have completed their Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) with an ATAR above 50.00, applied to a Victoria University bachelor degree starting in 2020, and maintain a 60 Weighted Average Mark (WAM) after every 96 credits completed.

c. VU College Diploma Merit Scholarship
This award offers a cash award of up to 2,000 AUD for students who achieve at least a distinction in each unit in the first semester of a diploma at VU College in Melbourne.
